Skin Rejuvenation FAQs
-
Skin rejuvenation is achieved by causing various degrees of thermal manipulation to the dermis layer. The heat causes the existing collagen fibers to contract, which yields immediate skin tightening results. Concurrently, the heat stimulates the fibroblasts in the lower dermis to create new collagen fibers and elastin.

Sometimes right away! What you will notice is the pigmentation will go temporarily darker, and vascular lesions will lighten or disappear, sometimes as soon as after the 1st and 2nd treatment (This is lucky). Usually after the 3rd treatment, you will notice that your skin will feel smoother and pigmentation/vascular concerns will have started by this point to lighten. Results can take time. Skin damage doesn’t occur overnight, and it takes us time as well to help reverse it.
-
Typically 6-8 treatment sessions are needed depending on the severity of the skin concerns being treated. These sessions are spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
Treatment time depends on the area treated. The average treatment takes about half an hour.

Discontinue Accutane 6 months prior to treatment
Discontinue use of Retinoic Acid topical products 2 weeks prior to treatment
Avoid sun exposure, or the use of tanning beds for 4-8 weeks (dependant on the skin type of Patient), and self-tanners for at least 4 weeks, prior and/or in between laser treatments
Report all skin diseases, viruses, infections, cold sores, eczema or allergies to your laser technician
Do not exfoliate, use glycolic acid, benzyl peroxide or any other skin irritants one week prior to treatment

Here is a step-by-step process of how skin rejuvenation works:
Step 1: Consultation
Before beginning the skin rejuvenation process, you will have a consultation with one of our certified laser technicians. During this consultation, we will assess your skin type to determine the most effective laser settings for your unique needs.
Step 2: Preparation
On the day of your treatment, please arrive with no makeup/a clean face. Prior to the laser application, you will be provided with protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser light.
Step 3: Treatment
Your technician will use a handheld laser device to target the skin cells. The laser energy is absorbed by the targeted skin cells, leading to various therapeutic effects, depending on the specific wavelength and settings. You may feel a mild stinging or warming sensation during the laser application.
Step 4: Aftercare
After the skin rejuvenation treatment, we will apply a cooling gel to soothe the skin and reduce redness or irritation, and SPF where necessary. You should avoid sun exposure and strenuous activities for a few days following the treatment.
Step 5: Follow-up sessions
Depending on the desired results and the severity of the skin issues, multiple laser sessions may be recommended. These sessions are typically scheduled several weeks apart to allow for optimal healing and collagen regeneration between treatments.
By following this step-by-step process, Nüd Sugaring + Laser Studio in Leduc can provide safe and effective skin rejuvenation treatments.

Temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, or mild discomfort immediately after the procedure. These usually subside within a day or two. Adhering to aftercare guidelines can minimize potential side effects.
-
Yes. You must be 18 years of age to receive skin rejuvenation treatments.
Although, we recommend starting skin rejuvenation after age 25, as this is when the skin starts to slow down its collagen process rate, and when it begins to subtly show early signs of pigmentation/vascular and aging. This age is also great for prevention purposes.

Yes! We can treat over dermal fillers. Fillers are injected into the sub-dermis or muscle, and laser light therapy does not reach that deep. The fillers are not affected. However, a 2 week waiting period after fillers are injected is important as the site of the injection would need to heal.
-
Our skin rejuvenation treatments can be performed on skin types 1-5. We cannot treat a skin type 6 because light-based therapy treatments are based on selective photothermolysis. In this case, the light is always attracted to the melanin pigment in the skin, and with our skin type 6 clients, the light would essentially be attracted to both their pigmented lesions, and their skin. Most of the time, this would result in a burn, and therefore we avoid treating skin type 6’s for their safety.
-
We can treat the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.
-
Yes! The wavelengths from our laser could cause hair to diminish in the treatment area if the follicles are shallow in the treatment site. It is for this reason that we do not treat men on their bearded area, as we would not want to leave this area “patchy” at the end of their treatment series.
